Biography of Susan Reid
Susan Reid joined the staff of the Ohio & Erie Canalway Coalition in May 2006 after retiring from FirstEnergy Solutions as a National Account Executive. Before joining the OECC staff she served as a member of the Board of Trustees representing FirstEnergy Corp.
Since joining the Ohio & Erie Canalway Coalition, Reid has worked on projects including:
- Stream bank stabilization and trail green space preservation.
- Worked with state and local governments, volunteers, OEPA and Army Corp of Engineers on implementing stream bank projects and trail projects.
- Grant writing to secure funding for projects.
- Managing the development and production of the “Silver Ribbon” newsletter.
- Historic structure projects including the Limbach Buildings in Clinton and the Richard Howe House in Akron.
- Assisted in the development of the Ohio & Erie National Heritage Area.
- Coordinating events to involve the public in Canalway activities.
- Fundraising and membership initiatives.
- Volunteer coordination.
Ms. Reid graduated from Kent State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Consumer Services. She has taken advanced training in project management, account development, accounting, sales, lighting, energy management and Microsoft office programs.
Ms. Reid has been honor by FirstEnergy Solutions with the “Circle of Excellence Sales Award”, the Massillon Board of Education for outstanding dedication to “Odyssey of the Mind”, by the Western Stark County Academy of Women as “Woman of the Year in Business”, and as an outstanding Volunteer to the Massillon Urban League. She has served on numerous boards for both community and professional organizations.
Ms. Reid is active in the Massillon Woman’s Club as co-chair of the Gift Shop, and in her church serving as past President of Council and leads the Staff Support Team. Sue is married to Bob and has two children, Michael in Philadelphia, and Katie married to Justin living in Nashville.
