Saturday, October 8, 2011

We hope you can join us for Bike and Brew on October 8, 2011!
4:00 p.m. Bicycle Ride—Fort Lauren, Trail Route or Zoar School House for the Trail and Road route
5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Oktoberfest—Zoar School House
On October 8, celebrate the German traditions of the Ohio & Erie Canal with "Bike and Brew": a 7 mile bike ride featuring the Towpath Trail German emigrants originally built, followed by an Oktoberfest with fun for all ages!
Experience the Canalway Project in Tuscarawas county starting at 4:00 PM with a bike ride from Fort Laurens to the Zoar Trailhead along the Towpath Trail, or start at Zoar School House for a road and trail route.
Starting at 5:00 PM, celebrate the Towpath Trail in true German fashion with an Oktoberfest at the Zoar School House located at 221 E. Fourth St. in Zoar Village. Zoar Village, originally settled by German emigrants, will head back to its roots with a night of fun, Oktoberfest Beer, German food, root beer floats, and German music. This year we will be featuring Oktoberfest beers from Great Lakes Brewing Company, Blue Moon, and Samuel Adams.
With every ticket is a chance to win a great door prize, a glass of your favorite Oktoberfest beer or a Root Beer Float and local cheeses, brats, potato salad, macaroni & cheese, applesauce, and strudel. With the first 200 tickets sold, you will receive a commemorative "Bike & Brew" glass. Extra beer will be available for $3 a glass.
Participants can choose to ride the Towpath Trail or come directly to Zoar. Helmets are encouraged for riders of all ages.
