Located just outside of Newcomerstown in Tuscarawas County, the Buckhorn Creek Trail is a near five-mile section of trail built on the site of an old rail line.
Currently, the Ohio & Erie Canalway Coalition owns and maintains this trail with support from the Tuscarawas County Parks Department and with volunteer assistance provided by the Newcomerstown Rotary and other volunteers. Many volunteer days are scheduled throughout the year and led by the Ohio & Erie Canalway to clear the trail, add signage, and more. For more on the work completed by volunteers, see below. If you are interested in assisting with volunteer efforts, please contact George Ebey.
If you are interested in visiting, the trail is accessible near the intersection of College Street and Creekside Drive in Newcomerstown.
On a beautiful spring Saturday, several members of the Newcomerstown Rotary as well as several regular Tuscarawas County volunteers helped us perform maintenance work on the Buckhorn Creek Trail. The team continued clearing dead trees and patched holes in the trails. This helps preserve the trail, making it safe for visitors who use it.
Volunteers gathered at Buckhorn Creek to prepare the trail for the spring and summer seasons. The team cleared dead trees and other brush from the surrounding area and hauled off the debris.
