Canal Cleanups

Next Canal Cleanup: April 27, 2019

The Ohio & Erie Canalway Coalition's Canal Cleanup program offers a number of opportunities throughout the year to become a steward of your local natural resources. Over the past 15 years, volunteers have removed more than 100 tons of trash from the Ohio & Erie Canal, Towpath Trail, Summit Lake, and surrounding areas.

Volunteers include neighborhood organizations, scout troops, sports teams, university classes, and individuals who want to make a difference. Other organizations choose to support their own cleanup. Volunteers from Cargill Salt come out to Summit lake every July to give back to the natural resources so close to their facilities.

If you are interested in sponsoring the Canal Cleanups and our volunteers, or having a group participate in a cleanup, please contact Lynn Williams.
