Lockheed Martin Towpath Freedom 5k

Next Towpath Freedom 5k: November 10, 2018

Our final event of the 2017 season, the Lockheed Martin Towpath Freedom 5k is a 3.1 mile run/walk which serves to commemorate the completion of the Towpath Trial within Summit County as well as honor our United States veterans for their service. This event, which takes place in downtown Akron, raises funds for the continued development and enhancement of the Towpath Trail,  Connector Trails, and National Heritage Area. Participants of all ages begin the run on South Main Street in downtown Akron, continuing onto the Towpath Trail, showcasing the unique urban pathway of the Towpath Trail in Akron.

Review: Lockheed Martin Towpath Freedom 5k 2017

On the crisp Saturday morning of November 11, more than 100 veterans and civilians gathered in downtown Akron for the 6th annual Lockheed Martin Towpath Freedom 5k. Participants enjoyed a pre-race flag ceremony and veteran recognition before heading up to the starting line for a 3.1 mile run/walk. After the 5k, participants enjoyed post-race food and an awards ceremony at Lock 3 Park. Thank you to our participants, volunteers, sponsors, and planning committee for your dedication and support during this event!
