Explore the Ohio & Erie Canalway National Heritage Area in all of its fall glory when you participate in the 2017 Goodyear Towpath Trek! Individuals and families are invited to walk or bicycle four sections of the Towpath Trail and earn a dated, commemorative pin to celebrate your success. To receive your pin, you must pay a $3 fee per hiker.
Towpath Trek 1: Richard Howe House to Mustill Store
Richard Howe House: 47 W. Exchange Street, Akron 44308
Mustill Store: 89 W. North Street, Akron 44304
Explore the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail in downtown Akron as you hike from the Richard Howe House to the Mustill Store. Start at the Richard Howe House and travel north on the Towpath Trail, following the archways, mural and lighting and landscaping on the State Route 59 Bridge. You can return on the same trail back to the Richard Howe House. The total distance is 2 miles.
Towpath Trek 2: Center Road to Village of Clinton

Experience the rural nature of the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail as you hike or bicycle south from the Center Road Trailhead to the Village of Clinton. Set back in time as you visit Locks 2 and 3 south on your way to the historic canal-era village of Clinton, named for the Governor of New York Dewitt Clinton. You can return on the same trail and the total distance is 3 miles.
Towpath Trek 3: Leonard Kreiger to Bacci Park

Explore the natural, historical and recreational resources of the Ohio & Erie Canal as you hike or bicycle south from the Leonard Krieger Canalway Center to Bacci Park. This diverse section of the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail travels along the Ohio & Erie Canal and Cuyahoga River and it is managed by Cleveland MetroParks. You can return on the same trail and the total distance is 3.4 miles.
Towpath Trek 4: Fort Laurens to Canal Lands Park Trailhead

Canal Lands Park: Corner of Dover Zoar Road NE and Towpath Road NE, Dover 44622
Begin your journey at the only Revolutionary War site in the State for Ohio, Fort Lauren's, managed by the Zoar Community Association. Travel south on the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail towards the I-77 Bridge as the Towpath Trail follows the Tuscarawas River and the remains of the Ohio & Erie Canal. You will pass by Locks 7, 8, 9, and 10 as you make your way towards the Canal Lands Park Trailhead. You can return on the same trail and the total distance is 4.6 miles.
