Join us for our Spring Walking Program!

Healthy Steps is the Ohio & Erie Canalway Coalition's annual walking program, running April 1 to May 2! We’re encouraging our community to get out and safely use the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail to promote health and wellness throughout our National Heritage Area. Count your steps, submit them virtually at the beginning of each week, and be entered for your chance to win prizes! In addition, all participants also receive a voucher to a future 2020 RubberDucks baseball game.


How Healthy Steps works:

  1. Track your step count via phone, smart watch, or pedometer. Step counting apps can be found in your phone's app store.

  2. Submit your daily step counts each Monday for the previous week using the tracking sheet we'll provide to all participants. All submission will be collected digitally to increase safety and proper physical distancing during this time.

  3. Each Wednesday, you'll receive a Walker's Weekly e-newsletter with the weekly prize winner, healthy recipes courtesy of Countryside, and other health and wellness tips.

  4. At the end of the program, we'll award the final prizes!

This is your chance to create a healthier you while exploring the culture, history, and possiblities along the Ohio & Erie Canalway Towpath Trail!


A Note to our Participants: We take seriously the health and wellbeing of our community. During this program, we encourage everyone out walking along the trail and in their neighborhoods to use safe physical distancing practices, which you can learn more about here. Originally scheduled weekly group hikes for this program are canceled, though we look forward to the opportunity to bring these back next year.
