Established in 1989, Ohio & Erie Canalway Coalition is a private, non-profit organization working on the development of the Ohio & Erie Canal Heritage Canalway. The Coalition provides educational programs, events and publications about the Heritage Canalway while developing strong working relationships with partners to preserve and interpret the natural, historical and recreational resources throughout the corridor.

Participants run 5k along the newest section of Towpath Trail in downtown Akron, enjoying the sites as they raise money to continue building the Towpath Trail. Partial Towpath Trail Closure
Begins Monday, October 27 2014

Brecksville, Ohio – The National Park Service (NPS) announces the closure of the Ohio & Erie Towpath Trail in Cuyahoga Valley National Park (CVNP) from Lock 29 Trailhead to SR 303 in Peninsula, from Monday, October 27 through Friday, December 19. A detour is provided through the Village of Peninsula. The closure is necessary for riverbank stabilization. The trail will be closed during the weekday, starting at 7 a.m. and open during the evenings and on weekends, limited exceptions may occur during construction.

Please check www.nps.gov/cuva in advance of traveling to the park for updates. Please respect all park closures for the safety of visitors, resource, and park staff.

CVNP encompasses 33,000 acres along the Cuyahoga River between Cleveland and Akron, Ohio. Managed by the National Park Service, CVNP combines cultural, historical, recreational, and natural activities in one setting.
