Special Update: COVID-19 Response

To our supporters:

At the Ohio & Erie Canalway Coalition, we take seriously the safety and health of the communities we serve. Though the times we face are challenging, it is during times like these we are reminded of why we are a coalition: We are a community of partners, organizations and neighbors just like you, working together to build a brighter future.

  • As always, we are dedicated to taking the proper steps to ensure the safety of event guests and program participants. Please see updates regarding our schedule below:

  • Taste of Tusc, originally scheduled for March 20, is postponed to a date to be determined.

  • Healthy Steps program will continue, with participants encouraged to turn in their steps counts virtually. Weekly lunchtime walks are canceled.

  • The Canal Cleanup scheduled for April 18 will continue as scheduled, with pre-registration required and attendance limited to 25 attendees. Contact our office for more information.

  • We are monitoring the situation to determine the future of this year’s Canal Boat Captain’s Ball on May 15 and Huntington Towpath Century Ride on June 6-7. Currently, both events remain scheduled as originally planned.

Though our opportunity to gather is limited, we would like to take this time to remind you that your parks and trails currently remain open. While we certainly encourage continued safe practices of social distancing and proper self-care, we also encourage those who are healthy and able to take time for a walk and enjoy fresh air along the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail, or visit one of the numerous parks or trails throughout your Ohio & Erie Canalway National Heritage Area.

While these are certainly challenges times that we are experiencing, we are reminded that it is at moments like this that our character and leadership is revealed. Just as we have encountered and overcome challenges in the past, we shall persevere through these trying times by staying safe, keeping a positive attitude and supporting each other.

If you have questions or are looking for additional ways to support the Ohio & Erie Canalway Coalition during this time, please visit our website or contact our office at 330-374-5657. As always, we are here to help.

All best, Your friends at the Ohio & Erie Canalway Coalition
