As the umbrella coalition organization dedicated to the creation and development of the Ohio & Erie National Heritage Canalway, Ohio & Erie Canalway Coalition provides a strong leadership role with community and government leaders throughout the 110 mile corridor.

Besides working with local community committees, the Coalition facilitates communication along the Canalway between the community and government leaders regarding the development of the Ohio & Erie National Heritage Canalway. Some of the regional projects we assisted in the past include:

· Development of the Ohio & Erie Canal Scenic Byway, from Dover to Cleveland, Ohio as the first official Byway in the state of Ohio. Through the cooperative support of State Senator Scott Oeslager, Summit County Engineer Gene Esser, Stark County Engineer Frank Fischer, Tuscarawas County Engineer Joe Bachman and Cuyahoga County Engineer, a vehicular linkage along the historic Ohio & Erie Canal is being established. Click here for more information about the Scenic Byway.

· President & Chief Executive Officer Dan Rice serves on the Ohio Bicentennial Commission Transportation Advisory Council. The Council is responsible for planning events, programs and publications celebrating the rich transportation history in Ohio for the bicentennial in 2003. Mr. Rice serves as the Chairperson of the Ohio Bicentennial Transportation Advisory Council.

· President & Chief Executive Officer Dan Rice serving on the Ohio Department of Development's (ODOD) Heritage Ohio Tourism Taskforce on the development of the State Heritage Program.

· Working with the Ohio Canal Corridor on the development of the Heritage Canalway Tourism activities, including a marketing plan.
