Congressman Ralph Regula Memorial Bicycle Ride

Next Memorial Ride: August 10, 2019

Formerly named the Tour du Towpath, the Congressman Regula Memorial Ride is a familiy-friendly bicycle ride beginning in Canal Fulton and taking riders through Barberton, Clinton, and Massillon. Riders have the option to ride either 8, 16, or 32 miles before heading back to the Canal Fulton Canalway Center for a picnic lunch, raffle prizes, and music.

The ride was renamed in 2017 to honor Congressman Ralph Regula, whose vision and perserverence lead to the designation of the Ohio & Erie Canalway National Heritage Area and the development of the Towpath Trail.

2018 Memorial Ride

At the 2018 Ralph Regula Memorial Ride, nearly 90 riders participated in a leisurely bicycle journey along the Towpath Trail in Stark and Summit Counties. The ride began with words from Stark County Commissioner Richard Regula, son of Congressman Ralph Regula. Commissioner Regula spoke with riders about his fathers legacy along the Ohio & Erie Canalway and thanked all those who enjoy the Towpath Trail so much. The ride will be renamed Congressman Ralph Regula Memorial Ride in 2018 to honor Congressman Regula, who passed in 2017.

Along with their ride, participants enjoyed a picnic lunch at St. Helena Heritage Park and had the chance to try their hand at playing dulcimer music. Thank you to staff, volunteers, committee, and riders for making this event so special!
