Tour du Towpath

Join the Ohio & Erie Canalway Coalition on the Annual Tour Du Towpath Bicycle Ride along the Ohio and Erie Towpath Trail, on Saturday, August 13, 2011. Tour Du Towpath begins and ends in Canal Fulton at the Canalway Visitor’s Center. Join us for one of the following routes: 31-mile road/trail route and 31-mile, 20-mile, and an 8-mile trail routes. Registration begins at 8:00 a.m. for the 31-mile riders, 9:00 a.m. for the 20-mile route and 10:00 a.m. for the 8-mile.

The routes go through a variety of picturesque landscapes, including places like the charming historic Clinton and the new Ohio Veterans Memorial Park. Starting at 11:00, a barbeque lunch will be provided for the riders, complete with music by the Heart Strings Guitar Band and prizes!

Stick around and enjoy the hospitality of Canal Fulton. All are invited to Canal Fulton Glassworks at 215 Market Street to see live glass work demonstration. Watch as molten glass is transformed before your eyes into beautiful objects. Visit the Gallery to see hundreds of beautiful works by Ohio artist. Enjoy a ride on the St. Helena III Canal Boat with a 2 for 1 price; play miniature golf for only $1 at Canal Fulton Canoe Livery; and visit the Heritage Society Museum for free.

If you have questions or are a member of the Ohio & Erie Canalway Coalition and would like the member discount call 330-374-5657. Everyone who registers before July 28 will receive a free tee-shirt! Aultman Health Foundation is providing free bike helmets to children who need one. Akron General Emergency Doctors are providing adult helmets for raffle prizes. Everyone is encouraged to wear a helmet.

All proceeds from Tour Du Towpath benefit the Ohio and Erie Canalway Coalition and its efforts to develop the Ohio and Erie Canal Towpath Trail.

Prices for Tour du Towpath are as follows:
$25.00 per person
$10.00 youth – 12 & under
$60.00 family – 2 adults and 2 children

Members and additional children for the family package are eligible for reduced rates. If you are a member or registering a family with more than 2 children, please call the OECC at 330-374-5657 to purchase tickets at the reduced rate.
