Bike NP is a resident-led initiative in support of the extension of the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail into New Philadelphia, Ohio, with resource support provided by the Ohio & Erie Canalway Coalition.
The Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail will be 101 miles long at completion, and is currently 90 miles of continuous trail from Cleveland to Dover along what was the historic Ohio & Erie Canal (1825-1913). To learn more, visit www.ohioanderiecanalway.com/explore/the-towpath-trail. The City of Philadelphia is working in collaboration with Ohio & Erie Canalway Coalition to design and implement a safe and accessible bicycle route as part of the remaining miles of the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail.
Family Fun Ride - October 21, 2023
Join Bike NP for a guided 4 mile bicycle ride Saturday morning on the streets of New Philadelphia to learn more about the future development of the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail.
The Family Fun Ride aims to promotes comradery among area residents who enjoy bicycling and trail-riding, who see value in the addition of a bicycle path for the community of New Philadelphia. The ride will begin at 10:00 a.m. at the YMCA of Tuscarawas County at 600 Monroe Street in Dover. Parking is available at the YMCA and Monroe Mall lots. The route is a little over 4 miles long from the YMCA to High Street and back. Complimentary Bike NP shirts will be given to participants (limited quantities available in each size).
This is an all-levels, all-ages ride. All participants are required to supply their own equipment and wear a helmet, as well as sign a waiver/release of liability. We encourage you to dress in costume to celebrate Halloween's approach!
