With a deep commitment to his Summit Lake community, Marcus Saulsberry has been actively involved in local youth development and neighborhood improvement initiatives since joining the Ohio & Erie Canalway Coalition in June 2020. Marcus began assisting with the Summit Lake Youth Ambassador Program, and later transitioned to a full-time position as Placemaker. He now also leads the Park Host operations at the new Summit Lake NorthShore Park. A proud parent of six and grandparent to five grandchildren, Marcus is passionate about youth engagement and also serves as Head Team Lead for the Summit Lake Youth Ambassador summer program alongside four other Team Leads. As a Placemaker, Marcus helps to maintain the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail from the Mustill Store to Summit Lake. Passionate about the importance of community spaces like the Towpath Trail and Northshore Park, he values the connections and relationships that grow through these shared experiences. They are especially excited about the new park in the Summit Lake neighborhood and takes pride in having been part of the project from its earliest stages. His favorite aspect of his combined work experience is preserving local history, watching Youth Ambassadors grow from children into confident young adults, and meeting new people along the way.
